How to change the short menu on the home page of my blackberry curve?

ok so i just got a blackberry curve and on the home screen at the bottom theres the short menu with apps for email, contacts, calender, media net, maps, and media. I was wanting to know how i could change that. For example: instead of email, i would like quick access to my sms and mms messages because i use that way more often. HELP? please?
