I have a betta fish in a 1 gallon tank (I know it's small, but I'm getting a 5 or 10 gallon soon) and I will need to clean it soon. Of course I have to take him out to clean it since it is so small, but he HATES the net. He refuses to get in it. I have to chase him around the tank for like, 5 minutes! Is there some secret to make him get in the net?How can I get my betta fish to go into the net?
use a hand or a a cup to get him out, its better for him than a netHow can I get my betta fish to go into the net?
Since I am going to empty the jar anyway, I use a very big net, too big to go in the jar. I hold the net over a bucket and pour the jar into it. He will usually pick the net over falling into the bucket or ending up on the floor.
If you do get a five or ten gallon tank be sure and only fill it to the four inch mark. Bettas are air breathers so they like that depth. They can feel secure on the bottom but not have a long jaunt to the surface. Their instincts are still in place even after years of being domesticated, so the longer the distance, the more they feel that they might be eaten by a large predatory fish, snake, mammal, or bird.
One trick i sometimes have to use is hold the net under the water and put some food right over the net. When the betta swims over it, just bring the net up.

You can't; that's like asking a person ';Please run into the fender of my car';. Sorry.
Please answer mine: Does this sound beyond crazy?
Just scoop it up. Fish aren't used to being tossled around, so try to make it less than 2 seconds in the bowl.
you can use a large cup
well you could always use a turkey baster but i hope you get a heater and filter for that betta before it dies of poor room and water tempature
No, not really you just have to be really fast and scoop him up.
they dont want to go in you have to catch them, thats how it works
