I live in a rural area and broadband costs like $200 a month. However the farm I work on has a decent net connection at the office. If I take my computer down there how can I connect to their internet and finally update my computer? I am running Windows Vista on my PC.
Thanks in advance. How to Connect to the Net at Work?
Best thing to do is talk to your supervisor or manager there. The last thing to do with any network is get on it without permission. This is a good way to get you into trouble, because if you sneak and get on their internet, they will be able to figure out who it is. Now, assuming you have permission and blessings and all that, you would simply have to find an ethernet cable that is plugged into an existing terminal there, and plug it in the network card on your computer. If they have wireless, you may be able to get a key from them to connect that way, but WPA keys can be very closely guarded by businesses sometimes. How to Connect to the Net at Work?
Well, if they have wireless internet connection and your computer has a wireless card you can always connect that way. If it does not, then you will need to hook your computer up via ethernet to their router/modem and connect that way.
