How do i find net force in this question?

If the force of friction acting on a sliding crate is 118 N, how much force must be applied to maintain a constant velocity?

i know that the answer to this first part is 118, the next part is What will be the net force acting on the crate? and What will be the acceleration?

Acceleration is the change in velocity. If the crate is moving at a constant velocity, then it is not accelearatin, i.e. a = 0.

net force is the sum of all the forces (resultant).

there is a force of 118 N in one direction and 118 N in the opposite direction... so the net (unbalanced) force is zero.



crate is moving at constant velocity.... which means acceleration is zero also.
