How can I stay out of the net and set the ball better in volleyball?

In volleyball, I have two major problems: lifting the ball when i try to set, and touching the net!

what are some tips on how to set better?

what is a good way to stay out of the net?How can I stay out of the net and set the ball better in volleyball?
To stay out of the net, i'd practice footwork, like the steps to take when approaching the net. And for setting, practice against a wall or something, try to touch the ball with the ';pads'; of your fingers, and nothing else. Practice short light taps.How can I stay out of the net and set the ball better in volleyball?
practice make perfect. i sucked at setting when i started, i'm not a setter now but i can set the ball when needed. as for the net problem you just have to focus on what your doing, what is going on around you, and where you are on the floor and again the more you practice the better you will get. go to fundamental camps and dedicate your spare time to volleyball if that is what you truly want to be successful in
EASY! i am a setter and i always catch myself in the net!

do drills helping where you set and make sure you are doing it over a line. it helps. you can also try haveing yourself ARM length away from the net and that helps also.

good luck!!
PRACTICE
To set better, you need more practice.

To stay out of the net, you need more... just kidding.

We train setters to

1%26gt; stand next to the net facing the hitter's hitting spot, with arm bent, and touch the net with elbow;

2%26gt; remember that is the spot you want to start with. Every time you finish a setting you come back to the spot and you don't get any closer to the net.

3%26gt; no matter how your teammates may pass the ball, it would only move you ';away'; from the net, thus avoid touching the net.

4%26gt; by doing that again and again, you are mentally trained to believe in yourself as you would never have to worry about whether you are getting closer to the net.
