In a game of volleyball, how many times does the volleyball need to be hit before it is hit over the net? (Including the hit over the net) Is it 3? But when you block the volleyball from coming over to your side of the net, does that count as a hit?How many volleyball hits before its over the net?
You can hit it once, twice, or three times. How many volleyball hits before its over the net?
you get 3 hits, and on the 3rd you must send it over the net. usually the 1st is a forearm pass (bump) the second is a volley (set) by the setter, and the 3rd is a hit by a spiker over the net. If you block the ball, but it comes over the net, it doesn't count as a hit. Also if you block the ball, i may hit it again consecutively one more in a row. my block won't count but my 1 touch will.
it doesnt ';need'; to be hit a definite number of times before it goes over. if the ball comes to your side of the net, and you dump it right back over, as long as it doesnt go out it is fine. it can be hit a maximum of three times, so as might as well use them. usually this means a bump, set and then spike. blocking does not count as a hit. if a blocker goes up to block and it slips between his/her hands, the blocker and bump it right after and will not get called, since the block doesnt count
The basic theory is that you're allowed 3 touches (and in an ideal world... it's pass - set - spike - done :) ).
In practice it's not always that straightforward... and there are some exceptions to the rules as well.
- The player (or players) who made the block may play the ball immediately afterwards without being called for a double-touch.
- You cannot touch the ball twice in a row in normal play.
- If all players in the block touch the ball in the same blocking action, that is all the same block and does not count as a touch (so if you have a 3-man block up, and the ball touches all of them, that's still no touches!)
Hope that helped. Clear as mud? =)
it's 3 TOUCHES. a hit is a form of touch...where the setter sets the second ball up high along the net and the hitter smashes it one handed over then net.
the block isn't classed as a touch...if it hits the blockers hands but goes behind or infront of them they are allowed to touch it again...and still have 3 touches.
i the ball were to go between the blocker and the net, they would be allowed to dig it...even though this looks like a double touch it's not.
hope that helped :)
you can hit it a maximum of three times before you return the ball. if a player on your team blocks the ball but it still goes on your side that does not count a a hit. most time the team has a person in the back row dig the ball (pass) to the setter and then the setter sets the ball to one of the hitters and then the hitter spikes the ball to the other side.
As far as I know 3 as a team(3 per side). 2 by yourself, but not in a row. You hit it to pass it(1), setter sets it up (2), and you hit it again over he net(3). A block is NOT considered a hit.A player must not block or attack a serve.
If you need more info check out the rules here.

You get One block.
3 hits per side (one single person can not hit it twice in a row, however a block does not count)
a player in position in the back row can not hit the ball in front of the ten foot (or hitting line) unless their hand does not break the plane of the net.
3 including the hit over the net but you dont always have to use all three hits. 3 is the maximum!
A block doesn't count as a hit, so this is the only time when the same person can hit the ball twice - if it is a block
Hope this helps
It is three. bump set spike. a spike counts as a hit but when you block the ball from coming over the net, it doesnt count.
its 3 hits, a block duznt count as a hit, and the person that blocked it is still able to hit it again.
Blocks dont count as hits, and you get a maximum of 3 hits before the ball must go to the other side.
3 hits and if you block it back over the net that do not count and a hit. Its a block.
One, Two, Or three. And no, a block does not count.
Yes it's three :) it bump (pass), set (fingertips set up), spike (hit over net)
3 definitley
1, 2, or 3. blocks don't count.
