PS I do not have much experience with networks so it needs to be simple. How do you connect a Wii to the net using a USB aircard?
if you have the wii connected directly to your pc you will need a crossover cable, as opposed to a regular network cable, since you don't have a switch or a router. Those can be found inexpensively at pricewatch, newegg or tigerdirect, or at the big box stores for many more$. Once that cable is connected if both the pc and wii are set to dhcp, they should find each other, if not you can set-up static addresses for the two of them, but we'll wait until you have your cable first, okey-dokey? Hope this was clear enough! How do you connect a Wii to the net using a USB aircard?
Does your sierra wireless card show up as network connection? If so then this should work. First I am assuming that you are using Windows XP. Second, you will need a hub or switch as apposed to the router that you are now using, because your computer will become your router. It will also supply the DHCP IP address to your wii. It is possible to turn off the DHCP and use your router as a hub, but that is beyond the scope of this answer.
After you have your wii and PC plugged into a hub / switch do this.
Click Start, connect to, show all connections. Right click the siera wireless connection (probably under dial-up) and click properties. Click on the advanced tab. Click allow other network users to connect through this computers network connection. Keep all of the defaults to start with and click ok.
Now try it out. I do not use yahoo, so let me know dlapham at gmail dot com if it works.
Thanks,
-David
